Role purpose and overview

The Telegraph needs a talented video all-rounder who can support productions, conduct research, and manage the administration of the desk.

You’ll spend around 40% of your time on the administrative elements of the role.

Please note: this is a fixed-term contract role, to start as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities
  • Developing ideas and researching the background to scripts. Involved in conceptual development of projects. Identifying & verifying historic and contemporary sources. Involvement in developing briefs & pitches from ideas into full projects.
  • Producing the scripts for various projects.
  • Working with video editors & producers to confirm archive briefs and needs. Sourcing, negotiating and licensing archive for projects, inclusive of video, still images and written sources.
  • Arranging freelancers and resources for projects, scheduling and booking kit, and supporting with finding shoot locations.
  • Securing contributors/interviewees & locations for filming, often at short notice and to deadlines.
  • Writing playpages for videos that sit on our website.
  • Requesting & cataloguing purchase orders. Recording project budgets accurately in Google Sheets. Coding invoices and expenses through our accounting systems.
  • Tracking cash floats used on productions.
  • Working with procurement to set up new suppliers. Setting up suppliers on EIS & Weekly payroll.
  • Goods receipting of PO numbers when invoices come in.
  • Arranging forms for new starters and freelancers.
  • Processing department card expenses.
