RESPONSIBLE TO: Interim Financial Controller/Deputy Director of Finance

RESPONSIBLE FOR: N/A

PURPOSE OF POST: To optimize and improve the university's financial systems and processes, enabling faster and more informed decision-making based on accurate, timely financial data.

1. System support and troubleshooting: Provide ongoing support for the existing finance system, including month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely reporting.
2. Diagnose and resolve technical issues: Work independently or with IT staff/external consultants to resolve system problems.
3. System analysis and process improvement: Analyze current systems and processes, recommending improvements to reduce manual work.
4. Testing & implementation: Oversee testing, deployment, and implementation of system upgrades and new systems.
5. Requirements gathering: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and document system requirements and processes.
6. Documentation: Prepare detailed documentation of system designs, requirements, and procedures.
7. Project management: Assist in managing project timelines to ensure timely delivery.
8. Collaboration: Work closely with developers, project managers, and IT teams to align system design with business needs.

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
• Experience with various accounting systems.
• Proven experience in systems/business analysis, IT support, or similar roles.

• Knowledge of project management frameworks.
• Proficiency in systems design, programming languages, databases, and software development methodologies.
• Experience with management accounting, financial management, or accounting concepts.
