Residents at The Bays Aged Care home love having a cuppa in their Cafe and sitting outside in the courtyard on a nice day. Reading the paper or a magazine, waiting for the hairdresser or to go to an activity, chatting with family, friends, staff, volunteers and socialising with other residents. Many residents have come from a social lifestyle, meeting in cafes for coffee and a chat.
Our cafe provides the continuity of this lifestyle choice in a safe and caring environment, meeting their specific dietary and care requirements. Cafe Volunteers are responsible for running the cafe – incl set up, barista coffee service, other hot and cold drinks, table service of small snacks and drinks, collecting payment from visitors and staff (cash & EFT), clean up and record notes in the book.
The Beanz Cafe hours are currently 10am to 2pm Tues to Fri. We are hoping to extend the volunteer run cafe service for 7 days per week and are seeking those keen to help out on Weekends and Mondays and able to fill in during the week if needed. A free meal and lunchbreak provided during the shift, and you get to meet many nice and interesting people. We also encourage you to dress up for the theme days!
Volunteers have the opportunity to meet other volunteers at the home with special lunchtime events for Volunteers Week in May and Christmas, and at our annual Family Fun Day fundraising event.
