Retention Midwife - Peterborough/Huntingdon

We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated Midwife who is seeking an opportunity to join our senior leadership team as a Retention Midwife.

The aim of this role is to provide individualised support to preceptorship midwives , return to practice learners and early career midwives. This role is pivotal to enhance the experience of working in the NHS of this cohort of midwives.

The post holder will offer individualised supportive interventions, including learning, career advice and pastoral care.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Current evidence of significant clinical midwifery experience in all areas
  • Ability to teach evidence-based practice
  • Evidence of clinical leadership skills implementing clinical/quality improvements in practice
  • Demonstrate evidence of supporting students and close working with newly qualified registrants and learners
  • Experience of providing staff and students with feedback on their individual performance
  • Current clinical experience in all areas
  • Proven abilities in cross professional working and liaison
  • Demonstrate evidence of clinical teaching in the classroom and/or practice setting
  • Experience of teaching in formal and/or clinical settings
  • Line manager experience, to include health roster completion and carrying out appraisals
Education/Knowledge & Qualifications
  • Registered Midwife
  • SSSA trained/ MSSP/ or equivalent meeting NMC practice assessor standards
  • Master's degree (or on current pathway) /equivalent postgraduate experience
  • Knowledge of current local/regional/national aspects and initiatives for the preceptorship agenda
  • NIPE trained and practicing
  • Postgraduate education/ teaching qualification
  • PSIRF Training
  • Human Factors Training
  • Cultural Competency/ Awareness Training

  • Ability to work autonomously with relevant students and staff to ensure optimum training opportunities are developed
