Overview

Temporary House and Yard Laborer — Vistra\'s Beaver Valley Power Plant located in Shippingport, PA is recruiting candidates to work the upcoming outage (October 5 – November 21, 2025). The tentative start date for this assignment will be mid-September 2025, contingent on the completion of badging requirements. This temporary assignment lasts up to approximately 47 days and supports the Beaver Valley Power Plant outage. The hourly wage is $27.09 (Step 1, PB rate). This position is located in the Maintenance Services department. You must possess a computer or have access to a computer and have an established email address. All communication regarding this position will occur by email, including offers and pre-employment appointments. Union membership is required (IBEW L29). This position will not lead to a full-time offer of employment. Under semi-direct supervision during assigned shifts, you will perform housekeeping and/or general manual work in assigned areas.

Responsibilities
  • Cleaning, inventory, readiness, and issuing respirators for site use in radiological-controlled areas
  • Performing trash and laundry collection in radiological-controlled areas and refuse and recycling collection
  • Operating power-driven cleaning equipment as required
  • Operating and maintaining equipment necessary to perform tasks (tools, dollies, carts, lift gates, man lifts, pressure sprayers, fork trucks, vehicles, weed trimmers, snow blowers, bobcats, lawn mowers, farm tractor)
  • Performing building maintenance housekeeping (sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, dusting, vacuuming, stripping, waxing)
  • Maintaining restroom and locker facilities in a clean and sanitary condition
  • Groundskeeping landscaping, lawn mowing, and snow removal
  • Decontamination of radiological-controlled areas
  • Assigning other groups in support of safe operations and maintenance of the nuclear site
  • Complying with regulatory and site procedures, policies, training, and business objectives
  • Addressing housekeeping deficiencies identified by site programs, tours, walk downs, and inspections
  • Stocking inventory and maintaining anti-contamination apparel for radiological-controlled area use
  • Assisting site electrical and mechanical sections during maintenance work activities
  • Handling bulk or heavy materials (e.g., furniture, 55-gallon drums) as required
  • Other duties in support of plant operations as assigned
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid/unexpired state driver\'s license
  • Ability to obtain unescorted access to the protected area of the nuclear plant via background investigation and required training
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, policies, and practices
  • Ability to work in radiological-controlled areas, confined spaces, and varied environments (temperature extremes, vegetation, heights, sewage treatment, restrooms, containment under sub-atmospheric conditions, hazardous materials, pathogens)
  • Physical ability to lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds per OSHA lifting guidelines
  • Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods
