Job description

Who we are:

Financeit is a point-of-sale financing provider serving some of the largest home improvement and retail organizations in Canada.

Our platform helps businesses close more sales by offering customers affordable monthly payment options for their next big home improvement, vehicle or retail purchase.

We are small enough that you can make an impact within the company and large enough to make an impact in the market.

Financeit is a company where collaboration, inclusivity, fairness, and respect aren’t just ideas that get talked about, but are part of who we are. If such a workplace intrigues you, we hope you’ll join us.

About the role:

If you’re ready to take your strategic thinking, advanced analytics skills, and knack for digging into the details to the next level while leaving your mark on a rapidly growing organization, we want to talk to you!

As the Manager of Lending Risk Strategy, reporting to the Director of Risk Strategy, you’ll work on developing full-spectrum (from underserved communities to homeowners) profitability-optimising origination models, strategies and policies that balance analytics, strategy and execution while enabling the hopes and dreams of Canadians.

Oh, and yes, being fun matters. A lot.

What you'll do:

  • Build, maintain, and continuously improve full-spectrum profitability-optimising consumer credit strategies, policies, and tests covering a wide range of channels, products, and stakeholders
  • Segment markets into prospective borrowers and design and execute statistical algorithms that optimise profitability by maximizing the acquisition of high-margin booked loans while minimizing losses through channels where intermediaries can have a significant impact on the presentation of offers, structure of pricing and underwriting standards
  • Develop and execute backtesting, monitoring, and reporting, in a timely manner - working collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders as required - to ensure that strategies are effective and high-performing
  • Develop risk policies that are compliant with the organisation’s risk appetite and review approve / decline requests outside of established guidelines
  • Conduct regular loan quality audits, and recommend changes to policies and procedures based on identified process gaps while ensuring corrective action is taken
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of team efficiency and effectiveness by identifying high quality / well-managed data sources and opportunities for the team to apply automation to key processes, reports and documentation
  • Dig deep into trends, anomalies and analytic findings to link them to actual real-world events, customer attitudes and behaviours to draw meaningful conclusions and insights that can improve ongoing business outcomes
  • Work with cross-functional partners to understand and incorporate their ideas and objectives into risk strategies
  • Bring energy, positivity, and a team-first attitude every day, while striving to make the team and yourself better.
  • University degree in a quantitative or technical field such as Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Applied Sciences, or Finance.
  • 3+ years of experience in strategy, analytics, data science, risk management, or finance with a significant focus on quantitative and qualitative strategy, predictive modeling, and/or risk or business analytics
  • 3+ years of applied experience in building quantitative and qualitative strategic plans, advanced models and policies
  • 3+ years of experience creating senior management ready communications and presentations with Excel, PowerPoint & Word.
  • Advanced skills in data manipulation and statistical / machine learning / AI modeling, with proficiency in Python, SQL, Knowledgeseeker, and/or SAS
  • Experience conducting complex indirect lending / consumer credit risk and/or fruad strategy & analytics at a financial institution, a strong asset.
  • Strong strategic thinking, judgment, communication (verbal, visual, and written), with advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Legitimately curious and passionate about finding the “right answer,” with a detail-oriented mindset and a “healthy sense of paranoia” about quality.
  • Highly organized and driven, with the ability to manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Balanced sense of pride and humility, thriving in a collaborative environment and bringing energy and enthusiasm to team culture.

Certified as one of Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures twice, we offer more than just the basics. Take advantage of:

  • An award-winning culture with a collaborative & inclusive team.
  • Competitive pay and performance based bonus.
  • Committed to flexible work arrangements, offering hybrid workplace options (2 days in office).
  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage + Lifestyle Account.
  • RRSP Matching and Parental Leave Top Up Program.
  • In office massage, meditation & workout sessions.
  • Virtual events such as Lunch & Learns, company parties, fun team activities and charity initiatives.
  • Career learning and development programs.

Next Steps:

If what you just read excites you, we’d like to hear from you! Please submit your application and we’ll contact you if you become selected for a phone interview.

Financeit is an equal opportunity employer. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.
