Process Engineer à Canada

Smarter Alloys is a world leader in smart materials innovation, pioneering advanced shape memory materials for applications in medical devices, cleantech, automotive, and beyond. We are looking for a Process Engineer to help scale and optimize our wire production processes as we continue our rapid growth.

As a Process Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in scaling up production and improving operational efficiency for our wire and finished goods manufacturing lines. Working cross-functionally with production, quality, R&D, and operations teams, you’ll help drive process improvements, reduce variability, and ensure high-quality output in a fast-paced, high-tech environment.

• Analyze and improve wire production processes including drawing, annealing, etching, shaping, and finishing
• Identify bottlenecks, implement lean improvements, and reduce waste across manufacturing operations
• Support the scale‑up of production from pilot to full‑scale
• Maintain and update process documentation as part of QMS requirements

• Collaborate with the Quality team to improve process capability and resolve root causes of defects
• Develop and monitor in-process quality control metrics and support SPC initiatives
• Lead DOE and other data‑driven investigations into process performance

• Work closely with R&D, operations, and procurement teams to support the development and transfer of new products into production
• Recommend and implement upgrades to equipment or processes to improve safety, throughput, or yield
• Contribute to internal audits, corrective actions, and quality improvement programs

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering (or similar field) and 2–5 years of experience in a process, manufacturing, or production engineering role (recent grads will not be considered)
• Familiarity with QMS systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 13485) and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab, SPC)
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, process validation, and root cause analysis techniques
• Self‑motivated and able to work cross‑functionally in a fast‑paced production environment

• Hands‑on experience with wire processing technologies (e.g., drawing, annealing, etching, shaping) is an asset
