Job description

To ensure all production operations are carried out in a safe and effective manner.

To optimize production performance as measured by daily attainment of the production plan (right

quality, right quantity, right cost), by allocating resources (people, equipment, materials) against the

production plan and making adjustments as circumstances change.

Expected Outcomes

1. Ensure personnel are trained in and follow safe operating procedures at all times

a. Ensure lockout / tagout procedures are followed

b. Ensure guarding is in use and in good working order

c. Document all non-compliance events and take appropriate follow-up actions

2. Ensure personnel follow cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) and follow all Food

Safety and Quality related guidelines and processes, as determined by the Quality Manager

a. Quality procedures are followed and test results properly documented

b. Cleaning and sanitization procedures are followed and results properly documented

c. Accurate and timely production records are maintained

d. Support the on-going development and delivery of training

e. Raise issues to senior management as needed

3. Maximize performance-to-plan on a day-to-day basis

a. Proactively monitor progress-to-plan to identify potential issues

b. Support production personnel through activities such as providing hands-on support,

relief work for breaks, filling in for staff shortages, providing additional manpower when

needed

c. Raise issues to COO as needed

4. Increase capacity and improve quality through continuous improvement :

a. Analyze production data to identify areas for optimization in processes, workflows, and

b. Implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to reduce waste and improve

productivity

5. Ensure personnel are trained in and follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) as they relate

to equipment and tools they are required to use as part of their normal duties

a. Support the on-going development and delivery of training

b. Maintain training records

6. Ensure production and support equipment are maintained in good order at all times

a. Proactively monitor performance of equipment to identify potential issues

b. Coordinate and work with maintenance personnel to effect repairs in a timely manner

1. Ensures Accountability

a. Follows through on commitments and makes sure others do the same

c. Monitors work and measures results

a. Providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to get work done

b. Provides clear direction and accountabilities

6. Tech Savvy

a. Experienced in operating food production equipment

b. Competent working knowledge of cGMP standards as they relate to food production in

Canada

c. Competent working knowledge of MS Office or Google Docs

d. Demonstrates sound trouble-shooting skills

Other Requirements

Must have Canadian citizenship or Permanent Residency status

Previous supervisory experience in a food production environment is MANDATORY

Oral English skills sufficient to receive and comprehend verbal directions and to communicate in an

effective manner with company personnel, suppliers, services companies, and others

Written English skills sufficient to read and comprehend training materials, posted health & safety

information, and other material as required

Numeracy and math skills sufficient to ensure the accuracy of numerical records; to perform basic

calculations related to process and production activities
