Do you love chocolates? As a proud Canadian Chocolatier, we create connection and joy through the power of chocolate and have a great deal of fun doing so.

We truly value diversity in our workforce and therefore, welcome applicants of all ethnic groups, genders, races, religions, abilities, and backgrounds.

We’re looking for a Process Engineer to join our Production team based in Vancouver, BC. This individual will report to the Production Manager.

Job Overview: The Process Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure the production of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective chocolate products. The role involves applying engineering principles to chocolate production, from raw ingredient processing to final product packaging, and requires a strong understanding of food science and safety standards.

You will have the opportunity to:

  • Process optimization: Analyze and evaluate existing chocolate production processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs. Use methodologies like Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Continuous Improvement: Manage and lead continuous improvement projects from conception to implementation, including defining scope, setting goals, creating project plans, and tracking deliverables. Identify areas for process improvement by analyzing production data and soliciting feedback from cross-functional teams. Foster a culture of ongoing innovation and operational excellence by identifying and eliminating waste, streamlining workflows, and optimizing production processes to maximize efficiency and product quality. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that reduce downtime, improve yields, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Equipment management: Design, select, and test new production equipment, and oversee its installation and commissioning. Monitor existing machinery and Production lines to ensure optimal performance and compliance with hygienic design principles.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve operational issues on the production floor to minimize downtime and maintain output. Conduct root cause analyses to implement permanent corrective actions and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions implemented.
  • Project management: Participate in engineering projects related to production, actively from conception to completion. This includes defining project scopes, developing budgets and schedules, and managing cross-functional teams to implement process improvements or new product lines.
  • Documentation and reporting: Create and maintain detailed process documentation, including SOPs, Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and operational manuals. Prepare reports on production data, project status, and key performance metrics for management.
  • Training: Provide training and technical support to production staff and technicians on new or updated processes and equipment.

You will be a good fit if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Process or Mechanical Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a highly process-driven, Food Manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in designing and optimizing production processes.
  • Experience with computer-based simulations and process modelling.
  • Practical knowledge in experimental design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Strong Practical knowledge and demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma (Green Belt level), or 8-step problem-solving.
  • Strong initiative, and a self-starter, with high level of engagement.
  • Team player with demonstrated ability to manage and influence stakeholders.
  • Change agent and promoter of improvement culture.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to various audiences.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and spoken.
