Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Principal Process Engineer to join our growing Process team in Mississauga Ont.

Reporting to the Manager of Process, the Principal Process Engineer is responsible for the delivery of accurate, professional and compliant process study and design deliverables using Company approved systems and procedures to agreed schedules.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and sign off NI 43-101 compliance documents.
  • Prepare process deliverables including, but not limited to mass balances, flowsheets, P&IDs, design criteria, operating costs and control philosophy.
  • Plan, cost and execute metallurgical testwork programmes on behalf of clients.
  • Interpret metallurgical testwork data and produce a concise testwork report summarising testwork outcomes and outlining the developed process flowsheet and process design criteria.
  • Ensure all relevant stakeholders are notified immediately of any risk or changes to process deliverables.
  • Evaluate tenders and provide technical recommendations for the purchase of process equipment from vendors during studies and design.
  • Assist with the peer review of process deliverables when requested by the Process Manager from time to time.
  • Maintain an understanding of the latest process developments in Industry and share these with the process team.
  • Work in conjunction with a range of internal and external stakeholders to meet project design criteria and deliverables.
  • Contribute to the development of junior process engineers by providing mentoring and feedback on a continuous basis.
  • Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives which support business priorities for continuous improvement.
  • Register and file all relevant process documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures.
  • Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Study and Project deliverables are of a high standard and produced in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the commissioning of process plants in locations in countries where Lycopodium operates as required from time to time.
  • Be/Become a member of an accredited professional institution (e.g. PEO Canada) and attend meetings, talks and conferences, when possible, to further career development and build a network of industry peers.
  • Maintain a professional database of process information that will assist on-going career development and use this information to assist the process team
  • Travel on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.
  • Assist with the development of proposals for testwork, studies and detailed engineering.
Qualifications
  • University Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
  • 5+ years experience in mineral processing operations.
  • 15+ years engineering experience.
  • Extremely well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Build and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors and co-workers.
  • Display the core values and ethos of the business.
  • Solid technical aptitude, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Provide mentoring and identify avenues of professional development and succession planning for personnel within your business unit.
  • Capacity to delegate appropriately.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision whilst consistently producing a high quality of deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve consistently high standards within both budgetary and schedule constraints.
  • Proficient understanding of business acumen with the ability to adapt to different business environments.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility and commitment.
  • High attention to detail and exceptional knowledge of process design.
  • Demonstrate a strict practice of confidentiality, personal responsibility and discretion.
  • Detailed knowledge of safety requirements, tagging and isolation procedures and emergency actions for work at process plants.
