Position Summary

Fabricator (Metal) will prepare, cut, shape, and weld metal using hand tools and equipment such as band saws, material brakes, and material shears. The role will provide fabrication support for shop services teams.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Shift and Salary

SHIFT: Monday – Thursday 5:00 am – 3:30 pm (Fridays Off)

SALARY: $25 - $30/hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interpret engineering blueprints
  • Measure meticulously and plan well to reduce waste
  • Mark cutting and bending lines
  • Set up metalwork machinery, including rollers, drill presses, flame cutters, brakes and shears
  • Fabricate and construct metal components
  • Grind and finish completed products
  • Perform quality checks on completed products
  • Weld Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) and Metal Inert Gas (MIG), silver solder and operate a spot welding machine.
  • Perform quality checks on completed products.
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs.
  • Operate lathes, surface grinders, drill presses.
  • Lead daily shop organization and clean-up.
Education and Experience (required)
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) or Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welding experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience operating power brakes, shears and bench machines.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumferences, and volume, and to apply concepts of basic mathematics
  • Certificate in Welding Technology or related.
  • American Welding Society (AWS) Certification.
  • Accurate interpretation of work orders and collaboration with co-workers and QA associates.
  • Work within the parameters of an estimate and work order.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal work instructions, read and interpret
  • Ability to use measurement tools such as a tape measure and occasionally, a dial caliber, plus welding, and torch equipment
  • Attention to all safety policies, programs, and practices is a must
  • Basic computer skills are needed for reviewing and performing shop orders
Physical Requirements
  • While performing the duties of this job, the assembler requires repetitive motions, lifting, squatting, kneeling, bending, walking, torquing, pulling, carrying, pulling, crouching, backward positions, and standing for extended periods.
  • Physically able to lift up to 30 lbs.
