VISION

At the Ontario Native Women’s Association (ONWA), we celebrate and honour the safety and healing of Indigenous Women and Girls as they take up their leadership roles in the family, community, provincially, nationally and internationally for generations to come.

SCOPE

The Associate Director will ensure the evaluation, development, and design of frontline service delivery in the Community Services portfolio and align to the ONWA’s strategic planning, vision, and mandate. The Associate Director develops and maintains effective working relations with other ONWA portfolios, Chapter and Councils, and allied community services agencies. The role assists to develop policies and procedures to ensure safety is a priority and reflective to the portfolio operational work plan. Through a provincial lens, the Associate Director will direct systems coordination and planning, training development and delivery, and support partnership development at all site locations. The Associate Director completes comprehensive reporting and training on budget alignment, fiscal deliverables, and program evaluation to the Director of Community Services and Senior Management as required. The Associate Director develops and analyzes effective systems through gaps analysis, statistics, and evaluation to create standardized formats to reinforce program enhancement and outcomes. The Associate Director ensures service delivery meets the requirements of legislation and service standards required by all funding bodies. The Associate Director works directly with the Director of Community Services to utilize a living model approach to adapt deliverables using best practices that support Indigenous women, youth, and their families across the province.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree related to Social Works, Indigenous Learning, or related field with a minimum of five (5) years’ progressive leadership experience within the not-for-profit space and/or within the relevant field.
  • Minimum 3-5 (three to five) years previous work experience in supporting and advocating for Indigenous women, youth, and their families.
  • Demonstrated administrative management skills with the ability to supervise a management team with a variety of program agreements, work plan initiatives, and budgets.
  • Significant experience with Indigenous knowledge including culture, traditions, medicine, and ceremony with the ability to provide recommendations for program evaluation and adaptation that will better support community members and/or effective interventions.
  • In-depth understanding of psychological, social, and cognitive developmental theory of practice to complement a 2-eye seeing approach.
  • Awareness of the recent, historical, and intergenerational trauma that Indigenous women and their families may have experienced, including the psychological, neurological, physiological, social, and spiritual impact of trauma.
  • Understanding of the principles of cultural trauma-informed care and wise practices.
  • A strong understanding of gendered-based analysis from an integrated feminist, anti- racist, anti-oppressive perspective/lens.
  • Proven work experience in managing crisis support and ability to mediate conflict, this includes having a specialized knowledge of judicial systems, human trafficking, concurrent disorders, dual diagnosis, mental health, and addictions.
  • Ability to develop and support the management team and provide in-house mentoring and creating practical training and program evaluation plans.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with case management and brief service methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience writing proposals and managing contribution agreements.
  • Substantial experience developing program budgets, cash flows, and financial management.
  • Willing to work flexible hours as needed to provide ongoing support and services to management team and Site locations.
  • Knowledge of not-for-profit organizations processes, procedures, and objectives.
  • Demonstrated organizational, time management, and facilitation skills with the ability to complete projects and assigned duties independently within strict deadlines.
  • Experience in program development and implementation planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong community partnerships, networking practices, and community collaboration.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including ability to adapt service delivery practices to meet community gaps and needs.
  • Excellent working knowledge of EMHware, Sparkrock, Microsoft Office, and other databases as required.
  • Strong knowledge of current issues, statistics, trends, and gaps facing Indigenous women and their families.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to speak an Indigenous Language is an asset.
  • Current vulnerable sector criminal records check. Valid 1st Aid/CPR.
  • Class “G” license, 2 million liability insurance, and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Cellular phone and internet access are required within this position.
  • Must be willing and able to work flexible schedule. This may include a combination of virtual remote work in your home and in-office work hours. This will be based on operational needs and will be determined by the ONWA.

The full salary range for this role is $108,300 - $134,220 ONWA conducts annual performance reviews, and employees may be eligible for salary adjustments based on performance outcomes and available funding.
