General Purpose
The Manager of Community Engaged Learning (CEL) will develop and deliver strategic opportunities for both community-based research and community-based learning in the College of Social & Applied Human Sciences (CSAHS).
Duties and Responsibilities
The Manager will liaise with key collaborators across and beyond campus in designing innovative, impactful curriculum, experiential learning and engaged scholarship opportunities for students, faculty and community. Based in the Community Engaged Scholarship Institute (CESI), the manager will work with all departments and CSAHS program areas with independence; providing consultation, support, and training workshops to faculty, instructors, and students in practices of critical community engaged learning and research. The Manager will address community, research, and pedagogical priorities by increasing capacity for CETL, facilitating and supporting course-based research partnerships, and meaningfully contributing to College and Institutional level programs and strategies around CETL. Fostering positive and sustained relationships among diverse groups of stakeholders, the Manager will support a broad definition of CEL including Experiential Learning as mandated at Ontario postsecondary institutions, while employing a principled and scholarly approach to developing new activities that address teaching and learning priorities and are consistent with excellence in CEL. With that in mind, the CEL manager will contribute to discourse in the field of CEL and represent CSAHS and CESI in regional, national and international networks.
