• Training Lead- Facilitation of the following courses:
• Project health and safety orientation and onboarding.
• Site-specific safety training.
• Training supervisors and staff on Aecon Health, Safety and Environmental Manual.
• Training employees in traffic protection, traffic control person, WHMIS, respiratory protection, emergency response.
• Coordinate training such as WHMIS, First Aid, Propane, working at heights, Confined space, elevated work platform, etc.
• Conduct workplace inspections and audits.
• Conduct behavioral observation in the workplace.
• Update Material Safety Data Sheets as required.
• Develop workplace plans – such as emergency evacuations, fire emergency, traffic controls, fall protection.
• Distribution of safety material supplies and equipment.
• Participate as a management member of Joint Health and Safety Committees.
• Analyze and maintain records and certifications relating to worker training.
• Inspects project facilities and recommends corrective actions.
• Working with the Claims Administrator assists with workers compensation claims and associated activities.
• Develop return to work and modified work programs.
• Mediate health and safety issues for resolution.
• Liaise with Government agencies.
• Prepare and assist with external safety audits.
• Gather and provide statistical information to estimating for tender packages.

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in the construction industry in a Health and Safety role.
• Strong knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations in Ontario.
• Strong knowledge of WSIB.
• Strong knowledge of other Regulations, e.g. WHMIS, Asbestos in Construction, Designated Substances, Smoking in the Workplace.
• Self-motivated with excellent organizational skills.
• Ability to work accurately under pressure.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and to be proactive.
• Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work with others as a team.
• Valid driver’s license.
