The Installation Coordinator - Proposals is responsible for creating an installation strategy for the proposal, including optimization of the overall installation concept and costing, as well as creating a high-level schedule for the proposal. This individual will work in close collaboration with all members of the Proposal team, as well as frequent consultations with the Project Execution Installation team. This position is based in the ANDRITZ office in Pointe-Claire (hybrid position – 3 days in the office, 2 days work from home), and some short visits to Hydro plants across Canada can be expected (a few times per year).

During the bid phase:

  • Review and understand the customer specifications (specifically for the hydro turbine and generator Installation scope). Where unclear, send questions to the client.
  • Develop Installation strategy
  • Evaluate site HSE requirements
  • Evaluate special tooling requirements for site activities
  • Develop costs for the Installation work (man-hours estimates, tooling, infrastructure, subcontractors, etc.), using our internal tools and reference data
  • Create RFQ packages for site activities, review / evaluate / clarify sub-contractor quotes, and develop relationships with potential sub-contractors
  • Develop schedule in Primavera P6, including critical-path
  • Identify risks, opportunities, deviations and clarifications
  • Prepare write-ups for the offer
  • Actively participate in proposal kick-off meetings, strategy meetings, costing meetings, management bid review meetings, etc.

During the post-bid phase:

  • Present the Installation solution to the client
  • Participate in technical negotiations with the client (modification of technical offer may be required)
  • Transfer of the technical solution to the Project Execution team (in the event that the bid is won)
  • Participate in debrief meetings with the client (in the event that the bid is lost)

  • Ideally five (5) to ten (10) years working experience on hydroelectric installation site as site manager or supervisor or site estimation or other;
  • Engineering degree is preferred, or at minimum site experience is required;
  • Leadership ability within a team context;
  • Understanding and knowledge of hydroelectric turbines and generators;
  • Knowledge of French and English, both oral and written;
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6, MS Project is an asset;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, teamwork skills and autonomy;
  • Ability to multitask and shift between many different proposals and initiatives with tight deadlines;
  • Knowledge of BOP activities (piping & electrical) is an asset;
  • Ability to travel to sites for short periods.
