Job Description :

Yard Operators are leaders in safety and efficient operating practices. You will be accountable for providing safe, efficient, effective, and cost-effective Bulk Material Handling operations in support of the facility re-refining activity.

This position is full-time permanent and based out of our North Vancouver Oil Refinery. The regular work schedule will be 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with potential transition to 9:00 am to 5:00 pm after 6 months.

Key Responsibilities :

• Operate units to GFL standards and in compliance with all government regulations.
• Follow Environment, Health and Safety policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Work within Transport Canada Regulations guidelines.
• Operate Bulk Material Handling tank and pumping systems.
• Load and offload tanker trucks and rail tank cars with fuels, oils, asphalt, process water, and chemicals.
• Transfer products between tanks.
• Segregate materials to ensure quality and minimize costs.
• Complete shipping and receiving documentation accurately and promptly.
• Document dangerous goods per TDG regulations.
• Conduct sampling and testing as required.
• Participate in training for unfamiliar processes and obtain necessary certifications.
• Engage in safety meetings, report incidents, and participate in investigations.
• Provide quality service, maintain equipment and work area, and perform manual tasks as needed.
• Work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Qualifications :

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in refinery tank farm or loading/offloading operations is an asset.
• Forklift experience is an asset.
• Possession of BC or Inter-provincial 4th Class Power Engineering certificate is an asset.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, exercise good judgment, and work proactively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent customer service skills and a positive work ethic.

This is a safety-sensitive position. Employment is contingent upon successful pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
