This is an opportunity to join a team that manufactures the V8 engine and Dual Clutch 8-Speed Transmission. Once assembled, these products are shipped to four GM assembly plants. Currently, a new product retool is underway to produce an electric drive unit.
The GM St. Catharines Propulsion Plant is notable for being GM Canada's first facility to utilize renewable energy through the Landfill Gas Co-Generation Plant. It is a landfill-free facility since 2008 and is certified with the Wildlife Habitat Council Gold Program, exemplifying GM’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions and environmental stewardship.
As an Environmental Leader supporting the St. Catharines Propulsion Plant, you will lead the air compliance and regulatory reporting programs, oversee PCB management, and manage the certified ISO 14001 environmental management system. You will also develop programs to reduce environmental risks and enhance operational efficiency.
The Team: The Environmental Operations Team comprises highly trained professionals who serve as a first-line resource for manufacturing partners. We focus on integrating robust environmental and sustainability practices into daily operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and fostering community connections. We collaborate with service suppliers, community partners, regulatory agencies, environmental consultants, and legal staff within the Sustainable Workplaces team.
Key responsibilities include:

Develop an understanding of plant manufacturing systems, including production processes, wastewater discharges, stormwater management, air emissions, sewer systems, chemical usage, and waste management/recycling, to support effective decision-making and compliance. (It’s on Me)
Coordinate with business partners and regulatory agencies to prepare necessary documentation and reports, and schedule and conduct compliance testing. (It’s on Me)
