Nature and Scope:
The Fleet Runner position is a key part of a team that provides a well-maintained, safe, effective and efficient fleet of vehicles for Island EMS staff and designed to give optimal customer service. They are accountable to exercise the "highest standards of cleanliness available" in the industry. Fleet Runners are expected to conduct themselves in a safe manner.
The Fleet Runner is responsible for ensuring all ambulances and support units are safe, effective, maintained, cleaned, and stocked in accordance with policies and procedures as stated by Island EMS.

Work will be conducted at Island EMS base(s), with occasional travel to bases, dealers, manufacturers, and maintenance facilities outside base when required. Exposure to low to moderate noise levels. Work includes moderate lifting and working with cleaning supplies and chemicals. Potential exposures to contaminated items.
Irregular work schedules possibly shift work and overtime as needed. Service centers can be cluttered, greasy, and dirty at times. The employee will spend various periods of sitting, standing, walking, crouching, lifting, and/or carrying light objects. Required to maintain one position for possible long periods of time, such as sitting, standing, or driving.
