Who You Are

As part of the Product Management team, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams and contribute to strategic initiatives, support critical product‑related tasks, and help drive the organization’s success by delivering solutions that empower Canadians in managing their day‑to‑day banking with our Canadian financial partners.
What You Are Accountable For
- Prioritize and consistently groom your product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer needs.
- Define, refine, and prioritize Epics, User Stories, and Acceptance criteria to ensure the development team has clear, actionable tasks that align to the definition of done (DoD).
- Collaborate with stakeholders and your development Squad to gather requirements, clarify expectations, and ensure that work assigned in Sprint aligns with the overall product vision, objectives, and priorities.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary liaison between stakeholders and the development team, ensuring clear and consistent communication of product goals and progress. Progress is ideally communicated asynchronously via burndown charts and sprint demos.
- Gather and prioritize stakeholder requirements, feedback, and expectations, integrating them into the product backlog to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Governance – maintain oversight of sprints and initiatives in flight, communicating impediments (and your successes) to the governance board.
- Be an advocate for change management and continuous improvement.
Sprint Planning And Review
- Lead and facilitate sprint planning meetings, ensuring the development team understands the highest priority items and has clear direction for the upcoming sprint, and ideally an idea of what is queued next. You are looking over the horizon and can effectively communicate the north star to your pods.
- Review and assess sprint progress during sprint reviews, gathering feedback from the development team and stakeholders to adjust priorities and refine the product backlog as needed.
Product Launch And Sales/Marketing Support
- Collaborate with sales & marketing teams to develop and execute comprehensive product launch plans, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and market strategies.
- Provide product expertise and support to sales and marketing teams, assist with the creation of marketing materials, sales enablement tools, and training sessions to effectively communicate product features and benefits.
Domain Expertise
- Deep domain expertise in financial services and banking, with a strong understanding of industry regulations, market trends, and customer needs.
- Ability to translate complex financial concepts into clear product requirements, ensuring solutions align with business objectives and compliance standards.
- Experience working with financial technology (FinTech) solutions, including digital banking, payments, lending, or core banking systems.
Technical Acumen
- Familiarity with software development practices and technologies.
- Demonstrated success utilizing Agile program management, estimation, and delivery methodologies.
- Working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence, and the Microsoft 365 product suite.
Business Acumen
- Strong business sense and the ability to align product decisions with overall company strategy.
- Understanding of applicable metrics that ensure product profitability and cost‑effectiveness.
- Deep understanding of customer behavior and requirements to drive user‑centric product development.
Leadership Skills
- Demonstrated leadership in guiding and influencing cross‑functional teams without direct authority, fostering collaboration and alignment toward product goals.
- Experience in leading product development from concept to launch.
- Strong decision‑making skills and the ability to take ownership of product outcomes.
Communication And Collaboration
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, including executives, customers, and end‑users.
- Skilled in facilitating meetings and workshops.
Problem‑Solving And Decision‑Making
- Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve product‑related issues.
- Ability to make data‑driven decisions and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience in navigating complex challenges and finding innovative solutions.
Change Management
- Ability to manage and adapt to changes in project scope, timelines, and priorities.
- Skilled in communicating changes and impacts to stakeholders and the governance board. You know when to alert and when to contain.
Certifications And Training
- 5+ years of experience in product management with a proven record of accomplishment.
- Strong growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying current with industry trends and best practices.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Professional Scrum Product Owner (PSPO), SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM), Agile Certified Product Manager and Product Owner (ACPMPO) or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI‑ACP) are highly desirable and demonstrate best practices and industry expertise.
