With the support of a strong farming and agricultural foundation, we pride ourselves on our past and our sustainable future.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Temporary Full Time Engineering Project Technologist/EIT to join the Engineering department for approximately 18 months. The Engineering Project Technologist/EIT reviews and assists in the long-term planning of municipal infrastructure upgrades that support Delta’s provincially mandated growth target of 3,607 new housing units in the next 5 years. You will work in a supportive team with the opportunity to attain a wide variety of engineering experience. If you have a passion for making a difference, enjoy working in a dynamic environment, with an amazing team, then this opportunity is right for you!

Under the general direction of the Engineering Services Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Reviewing design layouts, detail drawings, specifications, technical reports, and construction estimates for development driven municipal infrastructure projects to verify accuracy and conformance to Delta’s bylaws. Reviews will generally be focused on transportation and utility infrastructure including water, sewer, storm, irrigation systems, dikes, and solid waste, as well as urban forestry.
  • Verifying capacity analysis reports for water, storm and sanitary infrastructure.
  • Reviewing traffic impact analyses and construction traffic management plans.
  • Preparing updates to the Bylaws, engineering standards, and assisting with updates.
  • Preparing development-related briefs, Council Reports and memos as needed to support the General Manager of Engineering in Council meetings.
  • Planning, leading, and participating in meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including recording minutes of meeting.
  • Supporting long term utility and transportation master planning and identifying required upgrades based on growth.
  • Maintaining effective communication and positive relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts.

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in municipal infrastructure planning and design and a knowledge of common engineering design and construction practices. Strong computer abilities, attention to detail and accuracy, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.
