About the role

1. Ensure proper accounting and financial records and systems are maintained.
2. Ensure the school maintains costs within agreed budget levels.
3. Proactively advise the UAE Head of Finance & Principal around budget efficiencies.
4. Financial accounts are produced monthly, in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and within agreed timeframes. This includes but is not limited to, accruals, prepayments, ECL, and FAR management.
5. All statutory accounting and tax returns are produced and submitted in accordance with legislation.
6. Management of IFRS 16 leases in accordance with the standard.
7. Implement and maintain effective internal controls.
8. Production of weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts to aid both the school and Nord Anglia Education cash management.
9. Ensure proper asset management processes are in operation.
10. Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors regarding the statutory accounts and other statutory returns.
11. Liaise with internal auditors ensuring internal processes are robust and act and implement on any recommendations.
12. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest accounting and tax regulations within the UAE and internationally.

About you

1. Educated to Degree or its equivalent.
2. 5-7 years and above experience with proven ability in an accounting role with VAT experience essential.
3. Well versed with IFRS and general accounting procedures.
4. Advanced experience in accountancy software products such as MS Navision, and MS Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
5. The ability to work to tight deadlines, and the ability to pay attention to detail and accuracy.
6. Past experience in a school environment is desirable.
7. Excellent communication skills to negotiate with external stakeholders on commercial contracts and transactions.
8. Interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with non-finance members as well as finance members of the school and regional team.
9. High levels of personal integrity.
10. Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
11. Ability to work under pressure and remain calm.
12. Self-motivated and enthusiastic.
13. Ability to work independently.
