A vacancy exists for a Registered Nurse Theatre Qualified based at Life Westville Hospital, reporting to the Theatre Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing holistic and optimal quality nursing care to critically ill patients, aiming to maximize positive outcomes aligned with Company & Hospital strategic objectives.

To provide quality patient care by:

• Providing basic and specialized nursing care
• Communicating continually with patients and families regarding the patient's condition
• Administering medication according to ethical and legal frameworks
• Reviewing and complying with internal policies and protocols
• Ensuring quality management systems are followed, with competencies in scrubbing, circulating, assisting with anesthetics, and recovery

To provide effective people management by:

• Interacting with and communicating within a multidisciplinary team
• Providing training and development for personal and professional growth
• Leading a nursing surgical team in a slate

To provide effective cost management by:

• Managing stock according to policies
• Controlling staff hours and leave in line with policies
• Possessing knowledge of formulary stock items for cost-effective healthcare

To ensure effective Infection Control and SHEQ practices by:

• Maintaining a safe patient environment to enforce infection control
• Promoting a safe working environment by completing SHEQ alerts and incident reports

To foster effective relationships with stakeholders by:

• Conducting in-service orientations on doctor preferences
• Assisting multidisciplinary team members in their duties

To ensure equipment and instrumentation are functioning effectively:

• Daily checks and reporting defaults
• Educating staff and doctors on correct equipment use

To maintain effective record-keeping by:

• Ensuring records are accurate and stored per legal and ethical standards

• Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing
• Post Basic Qualification in Operating Theatre Nursing Science
• Experience in the theatre environment; ENT and ophthalmology experience advantageous
• OTQ certification
• Current registration with relevant professional body
• Understanding of private healthcare industry; computer proficiency
• Ability to work under pressure, organized, energetic, with strong interpersonal skills
• Own vehicle or transport, able to reach hospital within 20 minutes
