Job summary

An industrial automation solutions provider is seeking a highly driven Sales Representative to promote VSDs and PLCs in the Durban area. The ideal candidate should have proven sales experience in automation technology, excellent communication skills, and a technical background in electrical engineering or related fields. Responsibilities include building client relationships and providing technical support. This position requires a valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel. A strong sales record is essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

  • Proven sales experience in variable speed drives and industrial automation products.
  • Strong technical understanding of control panels, instrumentation, and drives.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients in the industrial sector.
  • Promote VSDs and PLC products to new and existing customers.
  • Conduct site visits to assess needs and provide technical guidance.
  • Prepare proposals and product demonstrations.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities.
  • Achieve sales targets and maintain sales activity records.

  • Prepare and present proposals, quotations, and product demonstrations.
  • Work closely with internal technical teams to ensure accurate product specifications and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and industry developments.
  • Achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Maintain detailed records of sales activities and client interactions.
Requirements
  • Matric or equivalent qualification.
  • A technical diploma / qualification in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field is advantageous.
  • Proven sales experience in VSDs, PLCs, or industrial automation products.
  • Strong technical understanding of automation systems, control panels, drives, and instrumentation.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to client sites.
  • Target-driven, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
