Roles / Responsibilities & Job Description

Sillito (www.environmentalconsultants.co.za) is seeking a qualified and experienced Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to join their expanding team of exceptional environmental professionals. The ideal candidate should have experience with Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) processes in South Africa, demonstrating a proven history of managing environmental authorization processes from beginning to end.

Key Responsibilities Of The Successful Applicant Will Include
  • Managing and conducting environmental authorization processes (such as Basic Assessment, Scoping & EIA processes, S24G applications, amendment applications, and more)
  • Performing Environmental Screening Investigations
  • Compiling reports
  • Coordinating specialists
  • Engaging in public and authority consultations
  • Overseeing project administration
Qualifications

Qualifications/Experience Required:

  • A relevant postgraduate degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a related field.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are Candidate Environmental Assessment Practitioners (EAP) or Registered EAPs with the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of South African environmental legislation, along with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in managing environmental authorization processes.
  • Outstanding communication and report-writing skills in English; proficiency in Afrikaans is a plus.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management abilities, with a strong emphasis on meticulous record-keeping.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of performing under pressure.
  • Ability to collaborate across various disciplines and industries.
  • Experience liaising with clients, specialists, the public, and regulatory authorities.
  • Self-motivated with excellent interpersonal skills; capable of thriving in both team settings and independent work.
  • Strong ethical values and integrity.
  • The successful candidate will be based in Cape Town, with a willingness to travel as needed, and must possess a valid driver’s license and personal transportation.
  • There is an option for hybrid working in the medium term once the candidate has acclimated to the role.
