Technical Sales Engineer – Pretoria & East Rand

Our client is a proudly South African company, supplying tungsten carbide cutting tools and holding tools to the engineering and manufacturing industries. They specialise in total tooling solutions, offering expert guidance from basic tooling to advanced CNC programming and turnkey projects to increase their customer’s efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs. They are looking for a passionate, motivated, self-driven Technical Sales Engineer who can identify and engage current and potential customers and articulate solutions that their products can provide.

Responsibilities
  • Business Development: Proactively identify and pursue new opportunities in the tungsten carbide cutting & holding tools industry to expand the customer base. Providing tooling solutions and expert guidance from basic tooling to advance CNC programming and turnkey projects, increasing customer efficiency and reducing manufacturing costs.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and provide customized tooling solutions.
  • Account Growth: Grow business within existing accounts and convert new leads into active customers.
  • Sales Strategy Execution: Develop and implement strategic sales plans to meet or exceed targets.
  • Technical Demonstrations: Conduct product tests and demonstrations to prove performance benefits, including improved manufacturing times or cost-per-component savings.
  • Sales Administration: Maintain up-to-date records of sales activities and ensure regular updates on the company CRM system.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with national sales teams and internal departments like finance, stock control, and stores to support the sales process.
  • Reporting & Forecasting: Participate in sales meetings, report on KPI progress, and deliver accurate sales forecasts and updates.
  • Product & Industry Knowledge: Stay informed on company products, industry developments, and competitor activities through continuous learning and training.
  • Professional Representation: Uphold a professional image of the company in all customer and industry interactions.
Qualifications
  • Programmer / Machinist, experienced in programming & setting CNC machines, mills, and lathes.
  • 3 Years’ experience in engineering in manufacturing industry – CNC machines.
  • Strong understanding of carbide cutting tools and their applications.
  • Proven sales track record experience in carbide tooling sales. (Advantageous).
  • Computer literacy is essential, with at least basic to intermediate proficiency in Excel, will be required to track sales, conduct research, and perform related tasks digitally.
  • Will be required to be available for in-person meetings at the Edenvale office on a minimum of one day per week.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with own reliable vehicle.
