Position Overview

Making accurate measurement and recording of mine workings. Designing, planning and ensuring safety of mining activities, which must be accurately represented on mine plans.

Job Responsibilities (Outputs)

Specialist Support

• Responsible for installation of survey pegs and off-setting of workings, belt peg installation, update of CAD working plans, month end measurements and tonnage calculations and Monthly mining layouts.

Effective People Management

• An optimized team is manned by staff which is motivated, empowered and lead by sound performance management and transformational leadership practices.
• Promote teamwork, provide support and manage performance by creating and maintaining individual development plans of subordinates.
• Training of survey crew employees.

Safety and Health

• Adhere to all safety and health practices and promote good housekeeping on an ongoing basis.
• Address all unsafe practices/potential hazardous situations, rectify and report to the direct superior.
• Promote good housekeeping practices and accept safety responsibility.
• Ensure safety rules and regulations are adhered to.

Qualifications:

• Certificate in advanced mine surveying - Surveying and DMRE Law (Mandatory).
• Certificate advanced mine evaluation (Mandatory).
• NDip – Advanced Mine Surveyor (Mandatory).
• B.Tech - Mineral Surveying (Advantageous).
• Certificate Advanced Surveying and DMRE Law (Mandatory).
• Driver’s License (Mandatory)

Years of related prior exp:

• 5 years’ experience Applicable operational experience within a heavy industry / production / mining environment (Mandatory)
• Surveying techniques; (Mandatory)
• Electronic surveying instruments (Mandatory);
• Computer Literacy
