Mission / Core Purpose of the Job
The Senior Manager – Finance is the chief financial advisor and strategic finance advisor, providing financial support to the MD & senior management while overseeing the company's financial operations and making decisions to improve overall financial health.
The role ensures financial growth, profitability and viability through building confidence in the investor community, driving organic and inorganic growth, effective working-capital management, and proactively managing the company's financial performance.
The Senior Manager – Finance leads the set-up of financial systems and structures, assumes full responsibility for the finance function, and ensures operational efficiencies and cost optimisation strategies align with Op Co objectives.
They produce accurate financial statements for stakeholders and are fully accountable for consolidated financial and non-financial reporting.
The role reports directly to the MD of Fibre CO SA and collaborates with the Bayobab Group CFO and the Bayobab Finance team.
Key Objectives
- Develop & implement strategy aligned with group objectives.
- Coordinate financial resources, optimise costs, and maintain operational efficiencies.
- Deliver accurate financial statements and reports to key stakeholders.
Ensure financial compliance and control across the Op Co.
- Strategy Development and Implementation Cascade group strategy into functional strategy under MD oversight.
- Provide direction, frameworks, and roadmaps for implementation.
- Review and adjust strategy in response to changes in the internal and external environment.
- Lead staff recruitment, development, and performance management.
- Foster a collaborative culture and open communication with staff.
- Implement performance review systems and KPI tracking.
- Develop training plans for skill development.
- Participate in leadership team and develop team skills where required.
- Promote partnership approaches to develop strong relationships with other working groups.
Governance
- Participate in strategic meetings and provide input.
- Drive Op Co-wide transformation initiatives and manage risk mitigations.
- Evaluate SLAs and KPIs and drive approval processes with MD / Group.
- Allocate budgets for internal projects post MD / Group sign-off.
- Prepare change-initiative proposals on SLA, policies and procedures.
Escalations
- Escalate critical issues affecting time, scope, productivity or cost to MD / Group.
- Provide solutions for escalations impacting multiple processes or functions.
Function Tactical
- Monitor projects initiated within the function.
- Finalize objectives, targets and budgets under CEO oversight.
- Review risks, issues and dependencies, setting mitigation actions.
- Develop and manage budgets as necessary.
- Sign off tactical changes with management approval.
Performance
- Monitor performance against Op Co strategy.
- Review SLA approvals and exception performance.
Reporting
- Monthly reports to MD on function progress.
- Ad hoc reports on specific projects as needed.
Budgets
- Manage function budgets in line with business objectives under MD oversight.
- Oversee project budgets and ensure cost control aligned with the least-cost operating strategy.
Delivery Leadership
- Implement Group Finance policies and ensure compliance.
- Manage consolidated Op Co finance strategy, budgets, and financials.
- Cascade the Group Fiber Co budget, analytics and reporting framework within the function.
- Provide strategic financial support to the MD and advise on risk.
- Represent and manage Op Co committees such as Risk & Audit and CAPEX.
- Maintain financial data integrity and control processes.
- Implement forecasting, budgeting and financial planning processes.
- Review and update business plans, budgets and forecasts.
- Support MD with funding requirements, liaising with external financial services.
- Manage cash flow, monitor spending and ensure transaction compliance.
- Report accounting KPIs to Group Fiber Co and address deviations.
- Approve finance & accounting transactions, ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Provide tax reporting cloud system training.
- Implement tax risk management and review computations and submissions.
