A leading national retail group seeks a Retail Project Manager to coordinate cross-functional teams and oversee multiple store development projects across South Africa. This role demands a project management qualification, strong skills in MS Suite, and previous retail experience, ideally in fashion. The successful candidate will manage timelines, quality, and budgets, ensuring excellence in project delivery, with regular travel between Durban, Johannesburg, and Cape Town.
Step into a project management role where retail moves fast, teams move together, and your impact is visible in every store development and transformation.
This national retail group has spent more than four decades scaling thoughtfully across South Africa, known for its disciplined growth, people-centric culture and commitment to accessible, design-forward products. With a diverse portfolio spanning apparel, homeware and financial services, the business continues to expand its footprint through intelligent store development and a strong focus on sustainability - all while maintaining the agility and entrepreneurial spirit that shaped its early years.
As the Retail Project Manager, you’ll operate at the intersection of internal alignment and external delivery. You’ll coordinate cross-functional teams, streamline communication, and support the rollout of multiple store development projects at once. Externally, you’ll be responsible for driving timelines, quality, budgets and contractor performance from initiation to handover. With regular travel between Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town, you’ll partner closely with the Store Development Director to ensure every project lands with excellence.
To thrive here, you’ll bring a project management qualification (with certification as an advantage), strong MS Suite capability (DAX experience is beneficial), and previous experience in retail environments - ideally fashion. You’ll need the stamina and self-direction to navigate high-pressure cycles, the confidence to move projects forward, and the willingness to travel as part of your routine rhythm of work.
