Production Team Leader - Assembly G-Core Capital•Dube Trade Port, KwaZulu Natal, ZA
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced Team Leader to join the Production Department (Assembly).
Purpose of the job
To oversee production activities for the operator. Ensures a smooth production process so that the customer targets are met within the required time, quality and in a cost-effective way. Maintains a safe working environment and ensures standardised work standards.
Experiential and Educational requirements
- Matric
- Higher Certificate in Operations Management or related qualification.
- At least 3 years relevant experience, in a similar capacity in Automotive Manufacturing or Manufacturing
Essential duties and responsibilities
- Oversees the workload of operators and ensures the allocation of work is done and employees understand their responsibility and the standard in which it should be conducted
- Monitor the team’s performance and ensures that hourly and daily targets are achieved through effective planning and manpower utilisation
- Investigates root cause to non-conformances and implements countermeasures to prevent recurrence
- Reviews daily production plan and communicate targets and objectives with the team daily
- Mentors, trains, guides, and provides knowledge and support to team members
- Monitor and provide input into the employee relations climate and corrective disciplinary process
- Ensures that high housekeeping standards are maintained for a safe working environment
- Implement and monitor quality standards as per compliance audit and ISO standards
- Daily inspection and reporting of machine condition/effectiveness and reviews machine breakdown and action plans
- Receiving of components and materials
- Meet the required KPI’s e.g. TAKT time/Cycle times, safety, quality, quantity
- Monitors and completes necessary documentation for leave, overtime etc.
- Updating of work instructions
- Continuous improvement activities for cycle times, defects, process abnormality and customer complaints
- Ensures that all machinery is used in accordance with standard operating procedures.
- Communicates/Reports any equipment /system issues and malfunctions and equipment breakdowns and ensures downtime is minimised.
- Collaborating with other departments such as procurement, logistics, and quality control to ensure a seamless production process
Technical Pre-requisites
- Understanding of production costs ie. Waste, downtime, scrap and re-work
- Understanding of Quality standards
- Experience with assisting and developing team members (on the job training)
- Experience of leading small group activities to drive improvement ideas
- Familiar with safety protocols and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment, including knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and equipment operation licenses.
- Reporting , including tracking attendance, output, downtime, and other key performance metrics.
- Understanding in operating relevant machinery and equipment used in the Welding Assembly production process
- Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality
- An understanding of Employee relations knowledge
- Knowledge of Microsoft applications,
- Basic knowledge of ISO 9001 and 14001, ITAF 16949
- Knowledge of Production principles.
