We at RCL FOODS are in search for a Production Team Leader to join our Beverages Division. The role will be based in Pretoria West and reports to the Operations Manager.

The individual will ensure the efficient, cost-effective production of high-quality products in alignment with daily and weekly plans. The role emphasizes safety, compliance, and continuous improvement, with performance evaluated regularly against specific goals and competencies. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining a safe working environment in the Production area by identifying risks and implementing preventive measures.

Duties & Responsibilities

Line Performance Optimization

Ensures machineries are clean, well maintained and good housekeeping.
Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
Improve line efficiency and availability.
Utilize OEE systems effectively.
Address underperformance through problem-solving.
Coordinate with Cooking and Fermentation Production Coordinator with the daily mixing and packing plan.
Minimize losses.
Ensure all hand over processes are completed at end of Shift.
Ensure palleted product is transferred to Hole in the Wall with 3 Packing slips to be signed off by Receiving Clerk for confirmation of goods received.
Ensure Pallets Received Print Out at end of shift reflects all pallets transferred through hole in the wall (HITW).

Quality Management
Follow up and close-off non-conformances.
Ensure all employees adhere to SOP and company policy and procedures.
Ensure compliance product specifications and quality standards.
Conduct regular inspections and audits of filled cartons.
Address and resolve quality issues promptly.
Follow Good Manufacturing Practices this would include making sure that everyone is wearing required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling and fall restraints.

Asset Care and Maintenance
Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions.
Ensure accurate capturing and creation of Engineering Job Card.
Ensure Start-up and Shut-Down Checklists are completed accurately and signed off before end of shift.
Record operational down time and provide feedback on corrective actions.

Team Leadership & Development
Lead, train and motivate production staff.
Drive PJO training on production procedures and work instructions.
Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Influence and drive learning mindset.

Health , Safety & Risk Management
Enforce safety protocols and ensure a clean, hazard-free work environment.
Conduct safety briefings and training for team members.
Meet safety target while minimizing equipment downtime.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Reporting and Documentation
Maintain accurate production records and reports.
Track KPIs daily focusing on output, downtime, waste and labour efficiency.
Communicate daily performance to Head of Department.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Support site-wide improvement initiatives.
Promote company values and team innovation.
Collaborate with maintenance in problem-solving and engineering reliability enhancements.

Minimum Requirements
  • NQF Level 6 or Diploma in Engineering/Quality (Food Safety)/Production Related Studies
  • 4 years experience in a similar role
