Job description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Pepkor is seeking a Procurement Analyst to strengthen its sourcing and procurement capability across the group. The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing group spend of goods and services, driving cost efficiencies, ensuring compliance with procurement policies, and building strong supplier relationships to support Pepkor’s operational and strategic objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyse spend data, track procurement KPIs, and identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Develop and implement data models and analysis for allocated categories, ensuring best value for the group.
• Recommend supplier selection, negotiation, and contract management to secure favourable terms while maintaining compliance with Pepkor’s procurement policies and B-BBEE requirements.
• Support the procurement lifecycle, including RFP/RFQ processes, purchase order management, and timely delivery of goods and services.
• Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and ensure service delivery meets operational requirements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders across finance, operations, IT, and retail divisions to ensure procurement strategies align with business needs.
• Stay informed on market trends, risks, and innovations that could impact procurement decisions.

JOB INCUMBENT REQUIREMENTS

• Strong data modelling and analytic skills for procurement decisions.
• Advanced Excel or similar data analytics capability.
• 3-5 years’ experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, preferably within retail, FMCG, or large-scale operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business, or Finance; a CIPS qualification or similar will be advantageous.
• Negotiation, supplier management, and contract administration skills will be advantageous.
• Proficiency in procurement and ERP systems (SAP or equivalent) will be advantageous.
• Knowledge of procurement compliance, risk, and relevant South African legislation, including B-BBEE will be advantageous.
• Behavioural competencies: Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all levels, while remaining analytical, detail-oriented, and effective in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
