Overview
OliverWyman is now looking to hire a Country Marketing Lead for South Africa, to join our IMEA Marketing team!
This role is based in our Johannesburg Office.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with IMEA Marketing Heads and South Africa’s business leadership to develop integrated growth strategies for existing and new sectors, for the local market.
- Lead South Africa-focused (70%) marketing campaigns across multiple channels (website, social media, press releases, email newsletters, videos, events) to increase brand visibility and generate interest, while supporting IMEA-wide campaigns and activations (30%) to strengthen regional alignment.
- Working with our IMEA campaigns coordinator, conduct detailed reporting and analysis of campaign impact in South Africa to drive informed decision-making; measure and analyse marketing effectiveness using CRM and other tools, optimizing campaigns continuously.
- Together with IMEA Head of PR, manage relationship with local PR agency, expand the firm’s presence in tier 1 media, also leveraging your own relationships to build connections with key editors and journalists.
- Create South Africa-specific content and adapt global marketing materials for local relevance, emphasizing culturally resonant storytelling and effective distribution.
- Represent Oliver Wyman South Africa in global Marketing team forums, identifying synergies between global and local campaigns, and ensuring South Africa’s perspective informs IMEA planning.
- Collaborate with our think tank the Oliver Wyman Forum, and Marsh McLennan (MMC) to strategize content delivery for relevant report launches.
- Cultivate strategic partnerships with organizations, associations, and influencers as relevant.
- Develop tailored account-based marketing (ABM) strategies in collaboration with local Partner leadership.
- Enhance employer brand through local activations, supporting Recruitment team efforts.
- Maintain a keen interest in industry trends, competitive intelligence, and regulatory changes, providing actionable insights that keep up with best practice.
- Identify and negotiate speaking opportunities for firm leaders at influential conferences and events in South Africa.
- Oversee local marketing operations and manage relationships with agencies and vendors to expand South Africa marketing support functions.
- Foster strong relationships internally and externally to drive collaboration and business development, both within South Africa and across the IMEA region.
- Take on special projects on behalf of the team on occasion, that contribute to the company’s goals and your own professional development.
Experience Required
- 8+ years of proven track record and experience in a B2B marketing / communication function in professional services or agency.
- Expertise in crafting and editing engaging content across multiple formats (media, social media, web, reports, etc.), and familiarity in using keyword research and SEO.
- Client-centric / Account Based Marketing experience with a strategic eye on linking Marketing impact with Commercial Objectives.
- Existing media relationships in South Africa an advantage, or experience in managing a PR agency.
- Team management and experience working in an international / regional peer group, contributing to multi-country campaigns.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Monday.com or Asana.
- Team member management is an advantage, but not essential at this stage.
- Skills and Attributes: Strong competency in strategic thinking and aligning key stakeholders.
- Ability to plan and execute marketing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with strong presentation and PowerPoint skills
- Strong command of business English, with honed writing and editing skills; executive presence.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills for a regional and international work environment.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks.
- Agile work attitude, hard-working, and results driven.
- Willingness to travel locally and internationally, as required, to fulfill Marketing campaign activations, for career development training, and spend time together with a wider team
