Maintenance Supervisor
The client, a market leader in the automotive manufacturing sector, is looking to hire a Maintenance Supervisor based close to La Mercy. The purpose of the Maintenance Supervisor is to plan, coordinate, and supervise maintenance activities to ensure optimal availability, reliability, and safe operation of plant, equipment, and facilities, while leading the maintenance team to support uninterrupted production and operational efficiency.
Educational Requirements & Experience
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Millwright/Electrical Trade Test
- Diploma/ Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering would be advantageous
- Minimum 5 years experience in a Maintenance Supervisor role within an automotive or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with intermediate Excel skills.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and IATF 16949 standards.
- Proficient in generating and interpreting maintenance reports, including downtime, MTTR, MTBF, and equipment availability.
- Working knowledge of production equipment used in assembly and welding processes.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory requirements in a manufacturing environment, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), PPE, and equipment operating licences.
- Ability to identify safety risks, near misses, and 5S gaps and take corrective action.
- Sound understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
- Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance systems and breakdown analysis.
Job Description
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards within the maintenance function.
- Supervise and coordinate daily maintenance activities, including breakdown, preventive, and planned maintenance.
- Ensure maximum equipment uptime and availability to support production targets.
- Monitor and manage maintenance team attendance, productivity, and shift performance.
- Allocate and optimise resources, including labour, spares, tools, and contractors.
- Ensure correct operation, servicing, and repair of plant, machinery, and production equipment.
- Identify recurring breakdowns and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance schedules.
- Enforce standard maintenance procedures, safety rules, and quality standards.
- Liaise closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality departments to minimise downtime.
- Maintain sound employee relations and discipline in line with labour legislation.
- Compile, analyse, and interpret maintenance, breakdown, and performance reports.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and equipment reliability projects.
