Job summary

A facilities maintenance company in Cape Town is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor with building maintenance and repairs. This role involves cleaning buildings, maintaining production machinery, and ensuring the overall upkeep of facilities. Candidates should have strong practical skills, excellent communication abilities, and teamwork capabilities. A Grade 10 education and previous experience in maintenance or plumbing are preferred. The position may require after-hours availability, making flexibility essential.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in maintenance, plumbing, or building preferred.
• Experience in a Warehouse/Production environment is advantageous.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

ABOUT THE JOB

MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT FACILITIES MAINTENANCE The Maintenance Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor with the general building maintenance and repairs of facilities and maintaining machinery production equipment.

The responsibilities may include cleaning buildings and rooms, and performing general maintenance and repair of the building, grounds, and equipment.

ABOUT YOU

• Must have the ability to adopt practical approaches.
• Must have strong maintenance/handyman skills.
• Planning, organizing, follow up and feedback.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and able to multitask.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Goal driven and Service Delivery should be your passion.
• Good verbal communication, with English the main medium of communication and other South African an added advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must show commitment; the position requires flexibility and after‑hours availability when required.
• Must be able to work well under pressure and achieve deadlines.
• Grade 10 – Matric.
• Plumbing / Building experience advantageous.
• 1 year experience in a similar role (as a maintenance / builder / plumber) a preference.
• Experience in a Warehouse / Production environment; cosmetic machinery advantageous.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in all situations.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and with high attention to detail.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to maintain in‑house automation machinery (e.g., bottle filling machines) advantageous.
