Job summary

A leading mining company in Gauteng is seeking a Legal Advisor to provide proactive legal services. The role requires a qualified attorney with at least 2 years of experience, strong knowledge in mining legislation, environmental law, and labour law. You will report to the Head of Legal, supporting various legal functions, ensuring compliance, and represent the company at the CCMA. Ideal candidates must possess excellent communication and negotiating skills, be able to work under pressure, and maintain high standards of legal practice.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years post-admission experience.
  • Broad knowledge of mining legislation.
  • Experience in commercial law and labour law.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • South African Citizenship with clear criminal record.

The Gold One Group is looking for a Legal Advisor to join our dynamic team. This position will be based in Springs and Roodepoort, reporting to the Head of Legal.

LEGAL ADVISOR X1 (GRADING C5)
Qualifying Criteria:
  • Qualified attorney or advocate with a minimum of 2 years post-admission experience
  • Broad working knowledge of legislation governing the mining industry
  • Knowledge of Environmental law and Mine, Health & Safety law
  • Experience in labour law, including disciplinary hearings, CCMA, and Labour Court
  • Experience in commercial law
  • Computer literate
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • South African Citizenship
  • Clear Criminal Record

  • Ability to work under pressure and organise workload to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities:
  • Support the Head of Legal in ensuring consistency and quality of approach and delivery of a value-adding, proactive legal service with an emphasis on Labour, Mining, Environmental, and Commercial law.
  • Assist in providing legal services and advice in written and verbal form across the Gold One Group.
  • Represent the company at the CCMA.
  • Liaise with external counsel on all litigation matters.
  • Manage the contract, litigation, and regulatory databases across the Gold One Group.
  • Inform the Gold One Group of any regulatory changes and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Provide general advice on a wide range of matters across the Gold One Group.
  • Assist in the drafting and reviewing of various agreements to be concluded on behalf of the Group.
  • Engage and manage internal and external stakeholder relations.
  • Conduct all work according to required standards and specifications
