Job summary

A reputable staffing agency in Durban is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage financial reporting and tax compliance. The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and at least 3-5 years of relevant experience. Responsibilities include month-end closing, reconciliation, and liaising with management to enhance financial procedures. Proficient knowledge of Tax legislation and advanced Excel skills are essential. This is a full-time position.

Qualifications

  • A strong understanding of Tax legislation (ETI) with 3-5 years experience.
  • Knowledge of the payroll cycle and benefits/bargaining councils.
  • Strong Financial Reporting and Reconciliation skills.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data and compile detailed reports.

Responsibilities

  • Produce error-free accounting reports and present results.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Develop and document accounting policies to enhance internal controls.
  • Liaise with the Financial Manager to improve financial procedures.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly.
  • Assist with tax audits, tax returns, and employee tax reconciliations.
  • Direct external audits to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare Monthly VAT reconciliation.

  • Knowledge of IFRS for SMEs
  • Knowledge of Tax Legislation and compliance (Direct and Indirect)
  • Advanced MS Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data and compile detailed reports
