A leading healthcare provider in Stellenbosch is looking for an IT Lead to serve as the strategic technical coordinator and enterprise architect for significant EHR and Core Systems Replacement programmes. The ideal candidate will ensure architectural alignment and manage system integration across data and cloud environments. They are expected to provide governance for secure and efficient system delivery in compliance with various regulations, with a focus on improving operational effectiveness throughout the organization.

Main Purpose of Job

The IT Lead acts as the strategic technical coordinator and enterprise architect for the CommonMS EHR and Core Systems Replacement programmes. The role ensures architectural alignment, seamless technical integration, and cross-functional coordination across data, cloud, security, applications, and infrastructure. While not directly responsible for delivery execution, the IT Lead provides the strategic architectural direction and governance needed to enable cohesive, secure, and effective system delivery across the organisation.

Key Responsibility Areas

Enterprise Architecture & System Integration Governance

  • Define and maintain the enterprise architecture across CommonMS EHR and SAP S/4HANA platforms aligned with the business.
  • Ensure architectural consistency and interoperability across clinical, financial, and operational systems.

Data Governance, Master Data & Migration Oversight

  • Coordination of master data harmonization and governance across legacy and new platforms.
  • Support data migration planning and validation frameworks in collaboration with data engineering teams.
  • Ensure data governance and compliance with POPIA, GDPR, and internal audit protocols.

Cloud Strategy, Security & Compliance Integration

  • Facilitate alignment between infrastructure, data, security, and application teams to support system integration.
  • Support cloud first strategy to champion, guide, and govern the adoption of cloud technologies across all initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy, security, and operational goals.
  • Ensure that security is embedded throughout the lifecycle of each initiative and that the program as a whole aligns with the organisation’s cybersecurity policies, risk appetite, and compliance obligations.

Project Governance, Milestones & Technical Delivery Assurance

  • Provide strategic oversight, coordination, and technical leadership to ensure that all projects are delivered successfully, aligned with business goals, and integrated effectively as part of project management.
  • Support go-live readiness through technical oversight, runbook development escalation planning.
  • Ensure that key delivery points across all projects are strategically aligned, realistic , and achievable, while supporting overall program objective and dependencies

Vendor, Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Lead technical forums, architecture reviews, and milestone planning across IT functions related to the project.
  • Service optimisation: Look for opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance user experience
Education

REQUIRED EDUCATION

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • SAP Architecture / Integration Certification

DESIRED EDUCATION:

  • Post-degree qualification in IT, Digital Health, Engineering, or Business Administration.
Experience

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years in enterprise IT architecture and coordination roles, preferably in healthcare or ERP environments.
  • Hands-on experience with EHR platforms and SAP S/4HANA.
  • Proven experience with integration platforms
  • Experience with cloud-native architectures
  • Strong background in data governance, master data management, and regulatory compliance.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in healthcare IT environments and understanding of clinical/non-clinical processes
  • Experience with large-scale data migrations and interoperability standards.
  • Vendor management and contract negotiation experience.
