About Us

HyperionDev is one of the largest providers of accelerated tech education in EMEA and one of the oldest providers of 'coding bootcamps' in the world. We work with top universities such as Imperial College London, The London School of Economics, The University of Edinburgh, and Stellenbosch University to deliver structured technical courses and bootcamps that accelerate people into fulfilling tech careers. We have been recognised as one of the top education technology scaleups in the world and gained the financial backing of Meta (previously Facebook) which recognised us as the most socially impactful startup operating in Africa, where we initially started our work. We are dedicated to closing the global tech skills gap and achieve this by integrating tech education with human mentorship and expert code review powered by a workforce in Southern Africa, which lowers the cost of accessible education in technology. This model has been successful, allowing us to reach millions of learners a year from over 60 countries. We have also partnered with government bodies such as the UK's Department for Education who provide scholarships for students to study on our bootcamps and gain employment at companies such as AstraZeneca and the United Kingdom's National Health Service (NHS). We're backed by nearly **** investors, having raised the largest crowdfunding round of funding for an edtech company in history. As a primarily bootstrapped, profitable, and scale-up tech business join us as we play our part in making the world a more stable, safer, and fair place.

About The Role

As an Intermediate Technical Learning Designer at HyperionDev, you will play an integral part in the creation and technical quality assurance of all content-related tasks in the Learning Design team. Your work will directly benefit thousands of our students, as well as our Education and Marketing teams. In addition to improving and expanding the technical quality of our existing content, you will also write and evaluate technical content (such as code samples and model answers) for all new courses, bootcamps, and any technical assessments that we need to carry out. You will further suggest and implement changes to our bootcamps, as industry needs are constantly changing, and what is expected from our graduates changes accordingly. You will also be part of the drive to ensure the alignment of our content for accreditation purposes. You will need to stay closely up-to-date with industry trends and job market needs concerning popular technology stacks and programming best practices to ensure that we can stay one step ahead of our competitors. As a member of the Learning Design team within Education, you will work closely with our Academic staff, the Learning Experience team, and the Marketing team to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of high-quality and engaging learning content to students. To excel in this role, you should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, be a fast learner, and have an eye for detail and a passion for programming which combine to form a passion for empowering people through coding education. You will also need to have people skills and the enthusiasm and capacity to upskill as the team scales. Finally, you should also be able to collaborate effectively with others and have a genuine interest in education within the Ed Tech space.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical (algorithmic, mathematical, and coding) subject matter expert (SME) input to the Learning Design team

  • Simplify complex technical concepts into clear and accessible language that will support and promote learning
  • Review and overhaul existing courses when and where necessary, with a focus on structuring the practical technical content and related technical theory content to best support learning at the highest possible quality
  • Implement changes to existing courses (and related dependencies) flagged in review and feedback forms
  • Improve the quality of boot camps by ensuring that the technical information in all learning content and practical tasks is accurate, relevant, understandable and error-free
  • Ensure that the academic and technical integrity of the content is maintained at all times
