About the Role
The Head of Learning & Capability Development will lead the end-to-end learning and development strategy across South Africa, driving outcome-focused capability building at all career levels. This role combines strategic leadership, hands‑on programme design, and strong stakeholder partnership to deliver innovative learning solutions aligned to business priorities.
Requirements and Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead and inspire a high‑performing learning and development team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Own and drive holistic capability development across career levels through innovative, outcome‑driven learning solutions.
- Take full accountability for the Skills Development Facilitator (SDF) function in South Africa.
Learning Design & Delivery
- Design and deliver training programmes across Operations Management, People Leadership, Client Engagement, CX and Stakeholder Management.
- Develop learning solutions focused on operational excellence, leadership development, and performance improvement.
- Lead or support talent management initiatives including succession planning and leadership development.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner closely with operations and business leaders to identify capability gaps and develop targeted training interventions.
- Conduct training needs analyses and oversee the implementation, administration, and delivery of high‑quality learning programmes.
- Drive internal communications strategy in collaboration with global capability development teams.
Measurement & Reporting
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on training effectiveness, success, and ROI.
- Publish monthly training dashboards and quality scores to HR and operations leadership.
- Maintain robust training MIS, databases, and reporting frameworks.
Project & Change Management
- Lead learning‑related projects from initiation through to delivery, including scope definition, planning, execution, and closure.
- Coordinate cross‑functional project teams, stakeholder communications, and decision‑making forums.
- Identify and assess business improvement opportunities and contribute to organisational development knowledge capital.
Experience & Qualifications
- University degree or postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Development, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of the South African legal and regulatory framework.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience driving learning and development strategies and solutions.
- At least 8 years’ experience facilitating functional training, leadership development programmes, and managing training operations.
- Solid grounding in L&D fundamentals, learning content analysis, design, and development.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with strong capability in training dashboards, MIS, and reporting.
