Reporting into the Director of Financial Reporting, we are looking to offer two fixed term contracts to support the business for an initial 18-month period to deliver statutory accounting and tax obligations and support the accounting activities of various companies that own Virgin Limited Edition properties. One these roles will focus on our South African properties and the other role will focus on other properties within our portfolio.
To be considered for this role, you must have the right to work in South Africa.
Here’s what you need in your tool kit:
Qualifications/ Experience
- Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) degree or equivalent qualification is essential.
- Postgraduate studies in Accounting, Finance or Taxation will be an advantage.
- Qualified or associate accountant is preferred. SAICA, SAIPA, AGA(SA) designations are all considered, subject to relevant post-qualification experience.
- Solid understanding of statutory audit processes and ability to support or execute audit engagements.
- Proficient technical accounting expertise with a strong understanding of IFRS and the ability to interpret and apply local accounting standards.
- Have a good understanding of local taxes, VAT legislation and compliance requirements.
- Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software, preferably Sage.
- Exposure to hospitality industry is highly advantageous.

What’s the gig?
Here’s what you’d do:
- Own the month-end balance sheet close across a portfolio of properties, preparing/reviewing detailed reconciliations (intercompany, accruals, prepayments, cash, fixed assets) for current and prior periods.
- Identify, investigate and resolve reconciling items with a pragmatic, solution-focused approach to ensure clean, supportable balances.
- Strengthen financial controls and disciplines by partnering with property finance teams, embedding robust processes, documentation standards and reconciliation templates.
- Lead and support audit delivery end-to-end, including planning through finalisation, and reviewing PBC/RFI packs and audit evidence to ensure readiness and quality.
- Support property finance teams by compiling schedules and information to third-party advisors for annual and provisional income tax returns, and preparing supporting documentation for ad-hoc queries from local tax authorities in coordination with the Propco finance team.
- Drive reporting and transformation improvements by partnering with the Director of Financial Reporting and Finance Systems teams to deliver statutory reporting deadlines, system changes, and tech-led automation/efficiency initiatives.
- Provide day-to-day compliance support by helping maintain a contracts/renewals dashboard, keeping bank mandates up to date (including authorised signatory changes), and assisting Propco finance teams and the Property finance teams with ad-hoc compliance requirements.
