Overview

Job Overview: We are seeking a proactive Financial Controller to oversee payroll processing and financial reporting across group entities. Drive compliance, efficiency, and team performance while managing risks and building key relationships to support strategic goals.

Responsibilities
  • Payroll Management: Oversee weekly/monthly payroll for compliance with laws, taxes, and policies; produce reports; handle EMP201, IRP5, tax filings; manage ad-hoc adjustments; advise HR/management; operate Dbit/Pastel Payroll; train on legislative updates; oversee UIF/COIDA/IOD claims; prepare for audits.
  • Financial Accounting & Control: Manage purchase ledger, bank payments, journal entries; oversee debtors ledger; reconcile balance sheets, VAT, PAYE; prepare management accounts, packs, turnover analysis; assist budgeting/forecasting; coordinate annual audits.
  • Systems & Process Improvement: Lead control enhancements, automation, best practices; optimize Pastel Partner and financial software; recommend new tools for efficiency.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure statutory/group policy adherence (e.g., employment equity, BEE, SDL); maintain records/audit trails; implement legislative updates.
  • Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor finance/payroll team; foster internal/external relationships; support group initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance (CPA/CIMA preferred)
  • 7+ years in payroll/financial control/accounting
  • Strong payroll/tax/statutory knowledge
  • Experience with Pastel Partner, Dbit, Pastel Payroll
  • Leadership skills; detail-oriented, analytical
