Pay Range $68,000.00-$85,000.00

The Department of Psychiatry at Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Financial Analyst to support its clinical, operational, and research initiatives. The Junior Analyst will work closely with senior analysts, faculty, and administrative leadership to collect, clean, and analyze data that informs decision‑making, improves patient care, and advances departmental projects. This position provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in healthcare analytics within an academic medical center environment.

Essential Functions
  • Liaise between Montefiore and Einstein administrative teams and allocate grant‑funded costs such as salaries appropriately.
  • Manage budgets and reporting for all grant‑funded programs.
  • Review session pay prepared by Office Manager and present for approval to the Senior Director of Finance. Cover for the office manager to prepare sessions.
  • Monthly distributions – prepare monthly after hours, submit for multiple levels of approval and ensure timely payment by the end of each month.
  • Attending Business Planning – prepare business plans for individual providers including new hires and FTE changes to be reviewed and submitted for contract approval.
  • Workday Position Submission – submit, track and follow up on all positions to be submitted by the central office. Develop and maintain a comprehensive progress tracker to be used by Sr leadership. Provide timely updates to leaders and clinicians upon request.
  • Workday Reclassifications – submit, track and follow up on all FTE, salary, cost allocation or job changes for the entire department. Develop and maintain a comprehensive progress tracker to be used by Sr leadership. Escalate stagnant submissions to central leadership.
  • Data Collection and Analysis – gather and organize clinical, operational, and financial datasets to identify patterns and insights. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to patient outcomes, departmental operations, and financial performance. Conduct variance analyses to compare actual performance against targets.
  • Prepare clear and accurate reports, dashboards, and presentations for departmental leadership and stakeholders. Translate complex data findings into actionable insights for non‑technical audiences.
  • Model Development & Forecasting – assist in building and maintaining financial, operational, and performance models. Support forecasting and planning processes to guide resource allocation and program development.
  • Research & Benchmarking – conduct reviews, market research, and benchmarking analyses to inform departmental initiatives. Support ongoing quality improvement and research projects by providing analytical support.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Public Health, Business, Data Science, or related field required.
  • At least two years of experience required.
  • Must have strong data analytics skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic SQL (experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or equivalent is a plus). Knowledge of EMR systems, specifically EPIC, preferred.
