Carlyle College is an independent co-ed Pre-Primary, Preparatory and High School located on an established 7-hectare campus, in the beautiful village of Nottingham Road in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

English and Consumer Studies Teacher (FET)

Applications are invited for the position of an English Home Language and Consumer Studies Teacher

This is a full time, permanent position commencing in Term 1, 2026.

The successful candidate would meet the following requirements:

  • A relevant FET Teaching Qualification.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience, preferably at IEB Level.
  • Police and Sexual Offenders checks.

The successful applicant would need to possess these qualities:

  • To be responsible for all duties required of an English and Consumer Studies Teacher.
  • The willingness and ability to teach other subjects as required in a small Independent School.
  • Able to use initiative and insight in the planning and implementation of a dynamic curriculum and an exciting learning programme, in keeping with the vision and ethos of Carlyle College.
  • Display excellent interpersonal, organisational and administrative skills.
  • A passion for teaching English and Consumer Studies, driving these subjects throughout the school.
  • Show creativity, exploration and innovation in the classroom.
  • The willingness and ability to participate in the school’s extramural and sporting program.
  • A certified copy of your SACE registration
  • A police clearance certificate
  • At least 3 traceable references
