A leading equipment maintenance firm is seeking a Crane Service Technician in Richards Bay. The role involves performing inspections and maintenance on cranes, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Candidates must have Electrician or Millwright certification, LMI certification, and at least 5 years of field service experience. The position requires excellent technical knowledge, computer literacy, and physical fitness for working at heights.
To perform preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections, repairs, retrofits, installations, and commissioning of cranes and hoists across multiple customer sites. This role ensures all lifting equipment meets statutory and safety standards, maintaining optimal performance and compliance at all times.
All legally required functions will be executed by a qualified Electrician and ECSA-accredited Lifting Machinery Inspector (LMI) in accordance with applicable regulations.
Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on cranes and hoists at customer locations.
Perform detailed post-repair audits to verify safety compliance and operational reliability.
Identify deficiencies, tag equipment accordingly, and document corrective recommendations.
Provide customers with accurate service reports, safety notifications, and improvement proposals.
Consult with clients on technical and safety issues, offering professional recommendations for system optimisation.
Execute and document all maintenance activities using the company's digital systems (e.g., SLIM).
Generate and report sales leads observed during service visits to the service office.
Maintain all company-issued tools, vehicles, and PPE in safe working order.
Collaborate with planners, service offices, and internal teams for scheduling and job coordination.
Comply with all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation, site regulations, and company safety procedures.
Report hazards, incidents, and near-misses promptly and accurately.
Participate in health, safety, and quality initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
Perform additional tasks aligned with operational and business objectives.
