An established Family Office is seeking a Compensation & Benefits Consultant for an in-office, 6–9 month fixed-term contract to support a leadership transition and programme continuity. The role is responsible for managing and implementing compensation and benefits programmes across multiple countries and business units, ensuring compliance, competitiveness, and alignment with organisational goals. Key areas include performance management oversight, employee information management, HR systems involvement, and responsibility for five outsourced executive and team payrolls locally and internationally.
Broader experience in general people management practices and the ability to act as a trusted advisor to leadership will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain competitive compensation structures, salary bands, and incentive programmes.
- Conduct regular market benchmarking and salary surveys to ensure pay equity and competitiveness for current employees and new hires.
- Manage salary review processes and incentive programmes.
- Benefits Administration: Oversee employee benefits programmes, including health insurance, retirement plans and risk benefits. Evaluate and negotiate with benefits providers to ensure cost-effectiveness and quality offerings.
- Management of Outsourced Payrolls: Responsibility for the five outsourced Executive and team payrolls in South Africa and abroad.
- Policy Development and Compliance Assurance: Develop and update compensation and benefits policies in line with organisational goals and legal requirements. Ensure compliance with tax laws, labour regulations, and audit standards.
- Performance Management, Employee Information, Analytics & Reporting: Oversight of the respective performance management practices in the Group. Management of Employee Information is important, while the HR Systems project implementation will also commence during the course of this assignment. Prepare reports and dashboards on compensation and benefits and related people management metrics for leadership review and decision-making. Analyse trends and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Employee Communication & Support: Communicate compensation and benefits programs clearly to respective business unit heads and to their employees as required. Provide guidance and support to managers and employees on related queries.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in systems and advanced Excel skills would be a minimum requirement.
- Preferably 7 to 10 years of experience in compensation and benefits management.
- Detailed knowledge of labour laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Commerce or related field (Honours or Masters qualifications would be preferred).
