Job description

Location - In-office only. Woodmead, Johannesburg

Reporting to - Managing Director

About the Role

Our client is hiring a driven, articulate, and thoughtful Business Development Manager to build client relationships across our core offerings: B-BBEE Ownership, ESD, and Preferential Procurement.

In this role, you’ll gain valuable exposure to corporate transactions, creative B-BBEE solutions, and cutting-edge structuring—while building trusted relationships with C-suite clients, driving results, and sharing in the rewards of growth.

You’ll engage directly with directors and CFOs—reaching out to new prospects, following up on warm leads, and nurturing dormant accounts.

Over time, you’ll take over existing relationships, attend networking events, and support product-specific campaigns.

You’ll start by shadowing the Managing Director in meetings and gradually take ownership of the full sales process—closing Procurement and ESD transactions, and supporting (or helping originate) Ownership deals.

This is a consultative sales role for someone who communicates clearly, thinks logically, and thrives in a structured yet entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Follow up on leads from client referrals and outbound campaigns
  2. Re-engage dormant accounts and open new opportunities
  3. Attend client meetings (initially alongside the MD), then lead independently
  4. Make outreach calls, send follow-ups, and write clear LinkedIn content
  5. Attend events and build relationships with senior stakeholders
  6. Track activity and opportunities in HubSpot (already in place)
  7. Brief external marketing support when needed
  8. Close ESD and Procurement deals; support Ownership transactions

What Success Looks Like

  1. New client relationships opened and nurtured with care
  2. Cold leads progressed to warm conversations and signed deals
  3. CRM activity up to date and clearly documented
  4. ESD and Procurement deals closed by Month 3; Ownership support ongoing
  5. Insightful feedback shared on messaging, objections, and trends

Requirements

  • Strong communicator — clear, confident, and credible with senior stakeholders
  • Excellent writer — emails and posts should reflect our tone and clarity
  • Fast learner — especially around B-BBEE, pricing, and structuring
  • Comfortable in boardrooms and with C-suite conversations
  • Numerate and Logical — able to grasp commercial structures and professional documents
  • Sales or client-facing experience in a relationship-driven field
  • Familiar with company structures (you don’t need to be a lawyer)
  • Confident navigating long sales cycles and erratic deal flow
  • Tech-savvy — ready to master HubSpot quickly (training provided)
  • Positive, proactive, and energetic — brings momentum and a can-do attitude
  • Honest, accountable, and collaborative — these are non-negotiable
  • Full-time, in-office role — our team is close-knit and works together on-site

You’ll Thrive Here If You Are :

  • Collaborative — comfortable working closely with a small, high-trust team
  • Responsible — owns your lane and follows through
  • Positive — brings energy and drive to client conversations
  • Professional — relatable to CFOs, directors, and entrepreneurs
  • Structured — handles sales ambiguity with focus and steadiness

Bonus Points For :

  • Experience with B-BBEE (especially Ownership, ESD, or Procurement)
  • Background in law, accounting, corporate finance, or company secretarial work
  • Track record selling to CFOs, legal, or compliance stakeholders
  • HubSpot fluency or CRM confidence
  • Professional credibility with decision-makers
  • Network of directors, FDs, or business owners
