Job description

Root2growth is looking for an experienced, technically strong CA(SA) with 5+ years post-qualified experience, including 2+ years of experience working for UK based accounting practice.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who wants genuine responsibility and autonomy.

This is a remote, work-from-home role with flexibility to fit around your personal life.

The Role

This is a pivotal leadership role within the practice. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day operational and technical leadership of the firm.

You will combine technical authority, team leadership, and operational oversight — while maintaining a small client portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
  • Acting as the primary technical support for the team
  • Reviewing statutory accounts, corporation tax and personal tax work
  • Supporting with complex accounting and tax queries
  • Maintaining high technical standards across the practice
  • Keeping the team up to date with legislative changes
Team & Operational Management
  • Managing team workload and capacity planning
  • Leading weekly team meetings
  • Supporting the development and mentoring of staff
  • Overseeing workflow and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Driving continuous process improvement.
Compliance & Quality Control
  • Managing AML compliance and file reviews
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance (ACCA/ICAEW standards)
  • Overseeing CPD across the team
  • Maintaining engagement and quality control processes
Client Relationship Oversight
  • Acting as an escalation point for client matters
  • Supporting fee reviews and service development
  • Option to retain 1–2 clients personally if desired
Strategic & Commercial Contribution
  • Supporting the ongoing growth and development of the practice
  • Contributing to pricing and service development decisions
  • Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and technology use
