Overview
Kalagadi Manganese is a female owned Mining Company in Southern Africa and is one of the world’s leading Manganese producers. Kalagadi Manganese Mine is situated in the town of Hotazel 70km from Kuruman, Northern Cape Province.
Responsibilities
- Obtain, check, and refine information. Collate and submit reports. Run data exception reports and take corrective action.
- Manage the efficient and effective utilisation of resources. Optimise systems and processes continuously to ensure production efficiency targets and operational plans are met.
- Optimise the core operational internal processes and internal supply chain and resolve operational conflicts.
- Provide input into functional planning. Interpret functional plan and develop sub-functional plans.
- Plan, direct and assess Quality Management within sub-function and recommend remedial actions where necessary to ensure adherence to QAQC principles.
- Manage both surface exploration and underground drilling programmes
- Provide inputs into mine planning.
- Geological support to production achieves production targets – tonnage on grade.
- Ensure operational plan is implemented.
- Plan, implement, control, and monitor approved changes to area of responsibility to respond to changes in the industry, legislation, and other related matters including transformation and optimisation.
- Assist with workplace readiness assessment.
- Promote and assure adherence to safety, health, and environmental procedures. Identify unsafe and hazardous situations.
- Diagnose incidents and accidents by completing root cause analyses and take corrective action.
- Conduct risk assessments. Stop work in unsafe areas.
- Ensure safety programs are executed.
- Update geological data on a continuous basis.
- Underground mapping and maintenance of such data.
- Support to mining - maps, interpretations, timeous and accurate reports, etc.
- Ensure geological / sampling data from shaft is up-to-date and of good quality databases.
- Help control costs.
- Provide oversight and supervision of underground sampling service.
- Updating of geological databases, QAQC, best practice etc.
- Participation in FOG incidents investigations.
- Ad hoc and continuous improvement work.
- Grade 12.
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology.
- Valid Driver’s License.

Other requirements
- Highly proficient in Datamine software suites.
- Membership of the Geological Society of South Africa.
- SACNASP - Registered as PrSciNat (Professional Natural Scientist) is considered advantageous.
