Overview

The Junior Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial and cost support to the project and proposals teams by preparing measurements, bills of quantities, cost estimates, and interim valuations. Assist in contract administration, procurement and final accounts to help deliver projects on budget and on time while developing QS skills and commercial awareness.

Key responsibilities
  • Prepare and check measurements and bills of quantities from drawings, specifications and site surveys.
  • Produce cost estimates and cost plans for small works and sub-packages.
  • Assist in preparing tender documents, obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Support interim valuations and prepare valuation schedules for subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Monitor project costs, report variances and support the preparation of forecasts and budget updates.
  • Administer variations and change orders, preparing supporting documentation and cost breakdowns.
  • Assist in preparing final accounts and contract close-out documentation.
  • Maintain accurate commercial records, procurement logs, subcontract documents and correspondence.
  • Support commercial risk reviews and help gather information for claims or disputes under direction.
  • Attend site meetings and coordinate with site teams to obtain measurement verifications and progress updates.
  • Use cost and document-control software to prepare reports.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies (health & safety, quality, procurement and project management).
Essential qualifications & experience
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
  • 0–2 years’ experience in a QS role
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills; close attention to detail.
  • Competent user of Microsoft Excel and Word.
