About The Organisation And The Role

Fine Art Portfolio is an upmarket art gallery representing a collection of established art galleries in South Africa, with a gallery situated in the heart of Franschhoek, as well as a short-term “pop-up” store at the Cape Town Cruise Terminal. The gallery caters to both locals and tourists alike and offers one of the largest selections of South African fine art as well as homewares. They are looking for experienced Sales Assistants to join these teams.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

• Sales and Customer service: act as an ambassador for the gallery and provide top-class sales service; build positive and long-lasting relationships with customers.
• Housekeeping: ensure that the gallery is tidy and presentable.
• Merchandising: present gallery pieces in an enticing and appealing manner.
• Ad hoc sales-related admin duties: as required.

Required Skills & Experience

• Education: Matric is essential
• Work experience and industry exposure
• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in high-end sales is essential
• Interest and knowledge of South African art, advantageous
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Well-spoken, presentable, able to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with clients and service providers
• Able to respond to queries, handle complaints, and manage difficult situations calmly and rationally
